1922 Short Half

Short Half 1922 (Aged 18)

I returned to Winchester on Sep 20th and was again up to Mr Blore in sixth Book B.
He gives me a good report as follows: “is making steady progress in many ways, is learning to cover more ground in a limited time and is showing better judgement. I have been pleased with the spirit in which he approaches his work, modest but eager to learn”. Latin 10/13, English 7/13, Mathematics 7/25. Hunter says “his work has been uniformly good”.
French 9/18, Rockley Wilson “is working sensibly and making progress”. Nat Science Hornby “satisfactory”.
The Headmaster comments: “A capital report. I hope that he will strengthen his foundation by self culture and will come well to the point”.

Home to Daneshill, all being together for Xmas, a mild winter. I shot a little, going to the Lamberts for 3 days with Rosemary and Faith, then for a week to Sir Cecil Hurst in Sussex, where we had some shooting. I found that the pheasant requires practice.
At home we played hockey and golf and had a good many dances, a children’s party at home being a great success, also the Xmas tree to all employees.
