I returned to Ludgrove on Sep 24th with Nigel. Veronica accompanied us to London and we met Cousin Muriel and Hermione taking Fitz to Ludgrove for the 1st time. We were a week late in returning owing to additions to the building.
I was again up to Mr Oakley in Div IV being left top and being able to keep my place throughout the term. Mr Oakley gave me a really good report saying that I had worked well and had made excellent progress. The prize given me was “Deeds that Won the Empire”.
In Mathematics I was 1st in Div III up to Mr Stanborough and Mr Brown beating Daunay by a little and both gave me a very good report. My prize was “The Story of Francis Cludde”.
In French Div III up to Mr Bird I was 4th out of 14 keeping my place and in History was equal 8th out of 16 and Mr Brown says that considering it was my first term in the Div I had not done badly.
In Geography up to Mr Henley I was 2nd out of 17 Burns beating me easily. Mr Henley was satisfied with my work and Mr Smith says of my progress and conduct that it was most satisfactory in every way, & Father was pleased with my work and report.
I was in the cottage with Nigel, Thompson and Wiggin which we enjoyed very much and gave a present to Dennis at the end
